Dr Khawaja Azimuddin is now offering a new and innovative treatment for fecal incontinence. This new treatment called the “Secca” procedure has been shown in studies to improve symptoms of bowel incontinence or stool leakage.
The Secca procedure involves delivery of radiofrequency energy to the muscles of the anal canal, which results in tightening of the sphincter muscles and corresponding improvement in incontinence symptoms. This minimally invasive outpatient procedure takes approximately 45 minutes and is performed under mild sedation. Patients go home approximately 1-2 hours after the procedure and typically resume normal activities within few days.
